I watched "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story" after reading a news release about the film. This is a very good film! Good acting, script, and direction. It easily compares to secular movies. The story was so uplifting that it will inspire nearly anyone to work hard to achieve their dreams.

The movie opens with Dr. Ben Carson (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) confronted with the challenge of separating Siamese twins joined at the head – something that had never been successful before. From there the movie flashes back to Ben's childhood and his struggles in school, in society, and the support he received from his single mother (Kimberly Elise).

The ground-breaking surgeries that Dr. Carson pioneered were depicted as at once, suspenseful, a little gory, fascinating, but still uplifting and triumphant. Dr. Carson's faith came through not in a preachy way, but as a part of his life and character. Highly recommended.

3.5 out of 5 Stars
