"A typical day in Willow, pouring rain. It always rains in times like this. A man told me that heaven was crying that day. Maybe so. But heaven's tears were cold. So many stories begin with a dead man, it's become a cliche. A dark alley, a smoking gun, and a thousand lingering memories remain to haunt us. But this time, there was no smoking gun, no dark alley, only those unanswered questions. It might have frightened the average kid, but not me. I live for this sort of thing. My name's Ace Wonder, P.I., and I'm about to take on my first real case."

"alleged" is a romantic drama based on events occurring behind the scenes and outside the courtroom of the famous Scopes “Monkey Trial” of 1925. Charles Anderson, a talented young reporter, feels trapped working for his deceased father’s weekly newspaper and living in a tiny town (Dayton, TN) in steep decline. Seeing the Monkey Trial as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to break into the journalistic big leagues, Charles manages to insert himself into the middle of the “Trial of the Century.” Once in the midst of this staged event, however, he is torn between his love for the more principled Rose, his fiancée, and the escalating moral compromises that he is asked to make as the eager protégé of H.L. Mencken, America’s most colorful and influential columnist.

“Jesus!” ….. As you just read that, did you think I was calling upon the name of our Lord and Savior? Or did you think I was uttering a frustrated expletive? Well, when I hear that name proclaimed in a church, or a Bible study, I consider it an acknowledgement of our Redeemer. When I hear it at the local movie theater, I cringe at the realization that it is mostly used as a curse word.

New Song Pictures, in association with Accelerated Entertainment, has put together an incredibly powerful, realistic and honest look at what teenagers face in today’s world.
Like an ostrich, we can bury our head in the sand. Or, like a child, we can close our eyes, place our hands over our ears and sing a pleasant melody, pretending we can’t hear what is truly going on around us. As Christians, we can tend to live in our relatively "safe" world, while people all around us suffer and perish.

It takes a village to … make a movie. It is not an individual effort by a long shot, and after three films, Alex and Stephen Kendrick, of Sherwood Pictures, have learned that lesson well. Their production team probably numbers in the hundreds, packed as it is with friends from around the Christian filmmaking community (Kevin Downes as Alex’s partner in the film, Jon Erwin as a cameraman and Red One consultant), as well as scores of volunteers from Sherwood Baptist Church.
